The Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence has a part-time opening for a Sexual Violence Program Specialist. The Sexual Violence Program Specialist will work in conjunction with the Executive Director to fulfill the mission to address sexual violence in Delaware by creating an inclusive community that supports survivors through advocacy, intervention, and awareness. Some of the work activities will include but are not limited to:

 • Enhance statewide community awareness on the dynamics of sexual assault/violence in Delaware. Help with the coordination of public awareness events statewide. Respond to technical assistance requests from Delaware victim service provider organizations. Work with the local judicial systems and law enforcement regarding favorable responses to serve victims and survivors of sexual assault. Assist with conducting listening sessions with survivors to identify and address gaps and barriers to services. Directs referrals received by DAASV to appropriate victim service provider organizations. 
• Other work activities as assigned. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social/behavioral sciences, criminal justice, women studies, gender-based violence, or closely related field. One to two years of work experience working with victims and survivors of violence. Knowledge of community resources for survivors of sexual assault. Survivors of sexual assault are encouraged to apply.

The Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence seeks an individual to serve as our Training and Outreach Coordinator. The Training and Outreach Coordinator will work primarily in Southern Delaware's rural, farm, and beach communities. The preferred candidate has two years of prior experience as a trainer with experience in the sexual violence arena. The candidate will also have to facilitate work activities to respond favorably to the needs of various culturally specific populations.

Work activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote collaborations that advance the mission of DAASV.
  • Conduct training/presentations and technical assistance to victim service provider organizations and identified culturally specific communities and populations to include but not limited to the Haitian and Hispanic communities.
  • Develop outreach initiatives.
  • Provide education on COVID-19 mitigation and resources

A successful candidate can communicate effectively with others and likes to engage with a diverse population. They have experience and knowledge in sexual violence, advocacy, community awareness activities, resources for sexual assault survivors, and experience working with culturally specific people. They can share concrete examples of their ability to create something from nothing and accurately assess the training needs of their audience when developing programs and initiatives to meet those needs. They do what is necessary to see a project through to the end. They are engaging as a trainer and facilitator.

Working Conditions

Forty (40) hour work week, extended hours may be required to meet training needs.

Requires travel to training and technical assistance locations throughout Delaware, including the DAASV headquarters office in Wilmington, Delaware, for scheduled meetings, projects, and collaboration team meetings. Some team meetings are held virtually. An office in the Southern Region of Delaware is being sought as the home base for the Training and Outreach Coordinator.

Employees may be exposed to outdoor environments and not protected from weather conditions during public outreach events.

  • Regular use of telephone/video communication equipment is required.

Some evenings and weekends may be required based on training and outreach activities.

Physical Requirements

  • Typing and writing; occasional standing, extended periods of sitting, lifting more than 10 lbs., some reaching with hands and arms; interpersonal communication. Must be able to travel to the office, throughout the state, and member agency sites using a personal or company-owned vehicle safely, maintaining proper licensing and insurance coverage, and following company policy.
  • Ability to consistently perform work activities requiring cooperation, instruction, persuasion, or communication with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on paper, and by telephone.
  • Must honor DAASV'S COVID-19 vaccination policy for new hires, interns, and volunteers. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination(s) is required before hiring.
